01Our commitment
Early Tree Limited processes personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. We are the controller for the personal data processed through InspectorWho.
We follow the data protection principles. Personal data is:
- processed lawfully, fairly and transparently;
- collected for specified, legitimate purposes and not used for incompatible ones;
- adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary;
- accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date;
- kept no longer than necessary; and
- processed securely.
The details of what we collect and why are in our privacy policy. This page explains your rights and how to use them.

03How to make a request
- Email support@inspectorwho.com, ideally from the email address linked to your account, and tell us which right you want to use. You can also write to Early Tree Limited, 8 Oak Field, Brayton, Selby, North Yorkshire, YO8 9QZ, United Kingdom. You do not have to use any particular form or wording.
- We may ask for information to confirm your identity, so we do not disclose data to the wrong person. If you are named in an Ofsted report but do not have an account, tell us your name as it appears in reports and, if possible, a report you appear in.
- We will respond within one month of receiving your request (or of confirming your identity, if we need to). If a request is complex or you make several, we may extend this by up to two further months, and we will tell you why within the first month.
Requests are free. We may charge a reasonable fee, or refuse, only if a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, and we will explain why. Some rights are not absolute and may not apply in every case; if we cannot do what you ask, we will explain the reason.
Someone else, such as a solicitor, can make a request on your behalf if they have your written authority.
04If you are named in an Ofsted report
InspectorWho analyses reports that Ofsted publishes, which name the inspectors involved. If you are an inspector or another person named in a report, you have the same rights as our users, even though you have never used InspectorWho. In particular you can:
- ask what data we hold about you and how we use it;
- have inaccurate information corrected, for example an inspection wrongly attributed to you or a misspelt name;
- object to our processing, which we will assess individually, weighing your circumstances against the public interest in transparency of published inspections; and
- report member content about you that you believe is unlawful or breaks our community guidelines.
The legal basis for this processing, and how we balanced it, is explained in section 4 of our privacy policy.
05Personal data breaches
If a personal data breach occurs, we will assess it promptly. Where it is likely to result in a risk to people's rights and freedoms, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, and where the risk is high we will tell the people affected without undue delay.
06Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data or a request, please tell us at support@inspectorwho.com so we can try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113, or write to Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
