01How to delete your account
In the app (web, iPhone, iPad or Android)
- Sign in to InspectorWho.
- Open your account menu and choose Account.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
Your account is closed immediately and you are signed out on all devices.
By email
Email support@inspectorwho.com from the email address you use to sign in, with the subject “Delete my InspectorWho account”. If you can't send from that address, tell us which address your account uses and we will verify that the request is yours before deleting anything.
We will confirm by email once your account has been deleted, within 30 days of your request and usually much sooner.
Uninstalling the mobile app does not delete your account. Deleting your account also stops all email alerts. If you only want to stop alerts, you can switch them off on your Following page instead.
02What is deleted
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Email address, name, display name, role and setting | Deleted |
| Sign-in sessions and connections to sign-in providers (Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, X) | Deleted; you are signed out everywhere |
| Inspectors and settings you follow, alert settings and alert history | Deleted |
| Ratings, comments and replies you posted | Deleted. Replies other members made to your comments stay, without your name |
| Feedback you sent | Your name and email are removed; the content may be kept, anonymised, so we can fix the issue it reported |
| Deep insight conversations (including charts, tables, files and answer ratings), access tokens, lookup logs and any waiting-list entry | Deleted; connected AI assistants stop working straight away |
| Deep insight credits | Unused credits are lost. The record of credits given and used is anonymised and kept only for our accounts |
| Notification tokens for your devices | Deleted |
03What we may keep, and for how long
- Backups: copies of deleted data can remain in encrypted backups until they are overwritten, within 90 days. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.
- Moderation and legal records: if your account or content was subject to a complaint, report or moderation action, we may keep the relevant records for up to 12 months, or longer if needed for a legal claim.
- Security logs: server logs are rotated automatically and are normally kept for no more than 30 days.
04Other data requests
You can also ask for a copy of your data before deleting your account, or ask us to delete specific data without closing your account. See Your data rights. If you are named in an Ofsted report and want to object to how we use that information, see Data sources and corrections.
